The Friends of Great Linford Manor Park

Who are the Friends?

We’re the Friends of Great Linford Manor Park, people with a shared passion for the park and an interest in its past, present and future.

The Friends work with other stakeholders to maintain and protect the green spaces and assets of the park, promote and participate in activities within the park (and elsewhere), and act as a voice and focal point for discussion and engagement with the local and wider community.

Practical volunteering

Held on the second Wednesday of every month, Volunteers from the Friends can be found in the park taking part in a variety of gardening and maintenance activities. We trim trees and vegetation, keep the cascades in the water garden flowing, maintain the walled garden and much more around the park. It's also a great social get-together, and we'll often make time for tea and biscuits.

History walks and Heritage Open Days

Twice a month, knowledgeable volunteers from the Friends lead free history walks around the park. Visitors can learn about the people and events that shaped Great Linford Manor Park, with plenty of surprising facts to be discovered. Walks are held every second Friday and every last Sunday; visit the Parks Trust website for the latest dates.

Every September, the Friends also contribute to a Heritage Open Day event in the park. Bringing together specialist speakers, costumed reenactors and plenty of fun for all ages.

5 Ways Cafe

Join The Parks Trust, St. Andrew’s Church and the Friends of Great Linford Manor Park at the 5 Ways Café: a dementia friendly community café held at St. Andrew’s Church, nestled in the peaceful surroundings of Great Linford Manor Park. All are welcome to come along and enjoy a cuppa and a chat, and there’s the option of joining in on an accessible guided walk around Great Linford Manor Park and the village (usually at 12pm).

Estate buildings campaign

The Almshouses, Pavilions, Great Barn and RadCliffe building are urgently in need of a renewed and sustainable purpose to secure their future. The Friends are lobbying Milton Keynes City Council and other decision makers to develop a sustainable plan for these buildings, with particular concern for the Almshouses, which are in need of urgent repairs. You can learn more about our campaign to save the Great Linford Manor Almshouses by clicking here.
